Rooftop LED — Platform Training

Seven Videos That Walk Through the Platform

Screen recordings of the jobs you do most often on the rooftop LED platform: making an account, binding a controller, publishing ads, and checking what actually played. Every video has the matching written steps next to it.

Before You Watch

Two videos need software and files on hand. Get them first so you can follow along instead of pausing.

Note Watch in the order below if this is your first time. Videos 1 and 2 are one-off setup. Videos 3 to 5 are the day-to-day work. Videos 6 and 7 are reporting, and you only need them once ads are running.
Recommended Keep the Rooftop CMS Manual open in a second tab. The videos show where to click; the manual has the passwords, thresholds and exact field names you will want to search for later.

01Account Registration Instruction

Creating your login on the platform, start to finish.

By the end you will have an account and be signed in to the platform.

What the video shows:

Note There is no approval step and no waiting period. The account works as soon as the email code goes through. Written steps: Account management.

02Account Binding Operation Description

Connecting a physical LED controller to your account so the vehicle appears on the platform.

By the end the controller shows up online under Vehicle Control, in the Ungrouped list.

What the video shows:

Keep in mind Binding fails if the SIM has no working data connection. The APN must be exactly right for the carrier, and the SIM must be activated in a phone first. The full SIM and APN checklist is in Device binding, and the failure symptoms are listed under Troubleshooting.
Note A freshly bound controller only appears under Vehicle Control → Ungrouped. It still counts as zero on the dashboard until you move it into a real group. See Vehicle control.

04Fixed Point Ads

Geolocation ads: the screen only plays the ad inside a circle you draw on the map.

By the end you have a fixed point with a radius and one ad attached to it.

What the video shows:

Note Geolocation ads sit at the top of the priority order, above sequence ads, vehicle group ads and counting ads. That is what makes them interrupt whatever else is playing when the vehicle enters the zone. See Advertising, and Map for reading vehicle positions and tracks.
Keep in mind A fixed point cannot be deleted while an ad still points at it. Delete the geolocation ad first, then the point.

05Release by Quantity

Counting ads: buy a number of vehicles rather than a whole group.

By the end one ad is running on the number of vehicles you specified.

What the video shows:

Note Counting ads have the lowest priority of the four ad types. Use them to top up delivery, not to guarantee a specific vehicle plays something. Written steps: Advertising.

06Play Log

Proof of play: what ran, on which vehicle, for how long, and where.

By the end you can pull a play report for any released ad and export it.

What the video shows:

Keep in mind An empty play log usually means the log switch was off on the vehicles, not that nothing played. Turn it on under Vehicle Control → Log Switch → Play Log before the campaign starts, because it does not backfill. More in Logs and reporting.
Note The full per-play detail report is not generated on screen. You request it with Export play log details and the platform emails a download link to the address you are logged in with, normally within one to two business days.

07Equipment Operation Log

Who changed what. Useful when an ad disappears and nobody admits to touching it.

By the end you can trace a change back to an account, an IP address and a timestamp.

What the video shows:

Note The log is far easier to read if each person has their own sub-account instead of everyone sharing one login. Sub-accounts and permissions are covered in User management; the log fields are in Logs and reporting.

File Formats Used in the Videos

The videos upload media without dwelling on the rules. These are the rules.

ItemWhat the platform accepts
ImagesPNG, JPG and GIF.
Video containersMP4 and 3GP only.
Video encodingDivx, Xvid or AVC/H.264. Anything else may refuse to play and has to be converted first.
Video sizeKeep the resolution between 320p and 720p. Video wider than 1280 px or taller than 1080 px may cause playback errors.
Color modePictures must be RGB. A CMYK file shows as a black screen.
Recommended If a file was made for print or exported from a video editor with default settings, convert it before you upload. Step-by-step settings are in Video Format Conversion.

If a Video Will Not Play

These tutorials stream from YouTube, so most problems are network problems.

SymptomFix
Player is blank or stuck loadingYou are probably on a network that blocks YouTube. Ask IT to allow youtube.com, or open this page on a phone using mobile data.
Constant bufferingLower the quality with the gear icon in the player. Audio is not essential in these recordings, so a lower resolution is usually fine.
On-screen text is too small to readGo fullscreen and raise the quality to the highest option offered. If it is still unclear, the same screens are described in words in the Rooftop CMS Manual.
The interface looks different from the videoThe platform gets updated; the recordings do not. Treat the written manual as the current reference and tell us what moved.
You need the steps with no internetPrint the written manual before you go on site. It is laid out to print cleanly.
Note The platform interface still carries the original vendor's wording, so some labels read oddly and some screens show the vendor's own product names rather than ours. The videos show the actual clicks, so you can follow them regardless of what a label says.

Questions

Do I need to watch all seven?

No. If someone else already set up your account and bound the vehicles, start at video 3. Videos 1 and 2 are one-time setup work. Videos 6 and 7 only matter once ads are running and you have to report on them.

Can I download the videos to watch offline?

No. They are YouTube embeds and stream only. If you will be somewhere without a connection, print the Rooftop CMS Manual instead — it covers the same ground in text.

Are there written instructions instead?

Yes. The Rooftop CMS Manual is the searchable version of everything shown here, with the field names, passwords and thresholds spelled out. Its FAQ answers the questions that come up most.

Which video covers installing the hardware?

None of them. These are platform tutorials only. Mounting the sign, running power and fitting the antenna are in Rooftop Installation.

I got stuck at a specific point in a video. What now?

Email [email protected] with the video name and the timestamp. That is usually enough for us to answer on the first reply.

Can you record a tutorial on something not covered here?

Send the request to [email protected] and say what you were trying to do when you got stuck. We add videos where people keep getting stuck, not by topic list.

Rather not run the platform yourself?

Option
We can operate the fleet, schedule the ads and send you the play reports. Hardware details are on the rooftop LED product page.

Stuck? We'll sort it out.

Email us a photo or short video of what the screen is doing — it's usually all we need to diagnose the issue on the first reply.
